Jim's Comments BEFORE the interview:      Chattem Inc. (CHTT)... You know we've been a big backer of this company, ever since it was able to pick up some assets on the cheap from Johnson & Johnson (JNJ).  We've backed it all the way...  Now, most recently, we've had some calls... We had the CEO on on March 19th, after a problem with their ICY-HOT product, and he said for us not to worry about it.  And the stock was at $69... It's back to $69 but, in the interim, they reported a great quarter.   Let's find out how it's really going.  On the line now, is Zan Guerry.  He's chairman and CEO of Chattem... Welcome back to the show sir...

.  .  .  .  .

Jim's Comments AFTER the interview:      Listen... you're looking for a company that does well in a tougher time...  You know a lot of, like, the Perrigo knock offs have done well... This isn't really a knock off.  It's proprietary, but they've got great brands...  I think that, with the negative part of ICY-HOT behind them, and the stock down today, I say you pull the trigger and buy some CHTT.

LXU

LSB Industries Inc. (LXU)

Q:
You recommended LXU as a spec Friday play several months ago and recently said you would pull the trigger as it is undervalued.  There has been insider buying.  The recent conference call reported solid growth.  Does the "Wells" notice make this a more dangerous play or would you still buy?

JJC:
I think this thing just got clocked because of the investigation...  Now, we know that accounting irregularities equals sell.  The core business was so good here...  I am mixed on this...  Yes, today it was upgraded...  When I see a "Wells" notice, it trumps all of my fundamentals work, and I'd be negligent if I didn't include it into my thinking.  At $14, I think it's included in the stock.

CPFL Energia S.A. (CPL)

Q:
I am a 20-year old female just getting her feet wet in the stock market.  I want to get a utility stock for my portfolio, but I can't decide whether to go with Consolidated Edison Inc. (ED) or Public Service (PEG).  Which one do you like better?

JJC:
I like ED, because it has the bigger dividend...  Remember, I like that CPL, that Brazilian one...  You're 20 years old... I think you take a longshot and go with the Brazilian one.  It's got a better yield... And, that way, you've got your whole life ahead of you.  I mean, if you buy a stock when you're 50, and it doesn't work, it takes a lot of effort to get back that money.  You're in good shape.

SRZ

Mad Mail

Sunrise Senior Living Inc. (SRZ)

Q:
With a long-term trend of baby boomers retiring in the future, why are senior living facility stocks like SRZ trading at such lows?

JJC:
That's because of accounting irregularities.  That company had accounting irregularities, and no one wanted to touch it.  Remember, accounting irregularities equals sell.  No matter what I do, when I see an accounting problem, I pull back and don't recommend.  Now, SRZ has apparently put that past them, but I think there are still people saying it's just too dangerous.  I am not with them...  I kind of like it now.

FSLR

First Solar, Inc. (FSLR)

Q:
I have been reading more information about the current warming cycle, and that it is over and cooling temperatures may expose global warming as a political ploy, and not a real phenomenon.  If this is true, will this damage stocks like FSLR, or can they stand on their own?

JJC:     One of the things that we love on this show is that we don't have to say whether the politicians are right, we just have to game what they're going to do.  And the politicians are convinced that solar energy is the way to go.  FSLR is a - get this - an actual profitable company...  It's a thin-film solar play, and I think FSLR is the best in show.  It's the only solar stock that I'm recommending.  I have an Applied Materials (AMAT) buy, which is a combination of being semiconductor equipment and solar, for those more conservative.

Thumbs up - indicates he would buy the stock or, at the very least, not sell the stock.  We do our best to interpret Jim's opinion on stocks, as we think it is indicated by his comments during the show.  Please read his comments to decide for yourself.

Thumbs down - indicates he has said not to buy or to sell the stock, based on his comments  We do our best to interpret Jim's opinion on stocks, as we think it is indicated by his comments during the show.  Please read his comments to decide for yourself.

Back up the truck - indicated by Jim, when he says the stock is so good, that he would do a 'mon-back' on the stock... In other words, this is the sound someone would say to a truck driver, "Come on back... " as he is "backing up the truck" to load up on his cargo.  Translation for buying stocks:  This recommendation by Jim indicates that, after you do your own homework on the stock, you should feel comfortable loading up on it, as it is in a good position to be bought at this point.

Stumped. - Of the 2,000+ stocks that Jim Cramer has in his head, for which he has an informed opinion, he sometimes comes across a caller with a stock he does not know well enough to opine on...  He then indicates he is stumped and will have to come back to it, after he does some homework of his own on the stock.  This usually occurs during the Lightning Round, when Jim does not know in advance who is calling, or what their stock question is about.

Definitions of key phrases used by Jim, known as "Cramerisms":

Definition:   'Pull the trigger' is Jim's phrase for making the decision at that point to trade - either to 'buy' or to 'sell' (although he usually uses the phrase for buying), as if to say you should feel comfortable enough to make the final decision without looking back...

Definition:   'Ring the Register' is Jim's phrase for selling a stock, and making it a final sale, that you should not look back on.  Put it behind you.

Definition:  'Let It Come In' indicates how you may wait for it to pull back, or have the stock price come down briefly, as your chance (after letting it come in) to buy the rest of your position (i.e., total number of shares you own in that stock).

Definition:  'backing it up' or 'doing a 'mon-back' is Jim's phrase for the metaphor of backing up a truck to load up on a stock by buying it.  'Mon-back is short for the imaginary worker saying, 'Come on back...' as the truck is backing up to receive its load... Notice that we use the little truck icon to indicate where Jim has mentioned this.  Translation for buying stocks:  This recommendation by Jim indicates that, after you do your own homework on the stock, you should feel comfortable loading up on it, as it is in a good position to be bought at this point.
