Mad Mail

Oil States International Inc. (OIS)

Q:    Hi Cramer, You remind me of my best professors from college, a mix of education with entertainment, to keep us focused. I wish more teachers would take your approach. You encourage viewers to ask about what they feel are 'new tech" stocks. Well, here are two companies that I really like, Oil States International Inc. (OIS) and Gulf Island Fabrication Inc. (GIFI). I think they will only grow as the global demand for "new tech" drilling increases.

JJC:
You're right... Remember my words of caution last Wednesday... Oil and gas got too overheated, it's in retreat... When I say the all-clear, and oil and gas is done going down... Then I will give you the signal, and then you can start thinking about buying these... Not until then, keep doing the homework until then.

Mad Mail

F5 Networks Inc. (FFIV)

Q:    Jim, Booyah from West Point, New York. What's the deal with data networking plays? I really like F5 Networks (FFIV). It's financial health is outstanding and it seems to have the best-of-breed products. But how do you think they stack up against emerging rivals, like Blue Coat Systems Inc. (BCSI)?

JJC:
Alright, here's the problem... Cisco (
CSCO) is telling people that maybe things are tougher... Now, you could say they only told UBS, but that whole group is dependent on Cisco, the biggest networker doing well... If Cisco is not doing well, and the stock is at a 52-week low, you can not buy F5.

General Comments

Q:    Jim, I was at the taping, and I just wanted to say that you did a great on the American Dream show. Most of the people I know don't have any confidence in or knowledge in the market. I'm hoping as many viewers as possible have a change of perception and develop hope as I did. Thanks to all of your efforts.

JJC:
Thank you very much. It's Sunday on NBC at 7 pm... It's not about individual stocks... It's about how to get started... It's about not getting poor... It's about how to be able to start saving for retirement... And I want to emphasize, it certainly is not about how horrible the market is... It's about taking advantage of the negativity and still believing in the American Dream, which I do, even after days like today.

Mad Mail

Tata Motors Ltd. (TTM)

Q:    Dr. Cramer, About TTM... I appreciate your advice on staying away from the auto industry, but TTM's new auto technology that runs on compressed air (now that's a renewable resource) is pretty intriguing. The car is so ugly, it's cute, the same comment I received when I purchased my first VW Bug back in the early 60's.

JJC:
Think about it... VW didn't make you any money, it just happened to be a good car... TTM may have a great car, no matter how hideous it is... But I have stayed away from the Indian market now all year, as I have had the Chinese... Those markets are in rapid retreat... I don't want you to buy TTM.

A Charitable Trust stock. - An asterisk next to a stock symbol indicates that Jim mentioned it is a stock that he manages within
his charitable trust portfolio.  You can see the complete portfolio
of stocks here >>

Thumbs up - indicates he would buy the stock or, at the very least, not sell the stock.  We do our best to interpret Jim's opinion on stocks, as we think it is indicated by his comments during the show.  Please read his comments to decide for yourself.

Thumbs down - indicates he has said not to buy or to sell the stock, based on his comments  We do our best to interpret Jim's opinion on stocks, as we think it is indicated by his comments during the show.  Please read his comments to decide for yourself.

Back up the truck - indicated by Jim, when he says the stock is so good, that he would do a 'mon-back' on the stock... In other words, this is the sound someone would say to a truck driver, "Come on back... " as he is "backing up the truck" to load up on his cargo.  Translation for buying stocks:  This recommendation by Jim indicates that, after you do your own homework on the stock, you should feel comfortable loading up on it, as it is in a good position to be bought at this point.

Stumped. - Of the 2,000+ stocks that Jim Cramer has in his head, for which he has an informed opinion, he sometimes comes across a caller with a stock he does not know well enough to opine on...  He then indicates he is stumped and will have to come back to it, after he does some homework of his own on the stock.  This usually occurs during the Lightning Round, when Jim does not know in advance who is calling, or what their stock question is about.

Definitions of key phrases used by Jim, known as "Cramerisms":

Definition:   'Pull the trigger' is Jim's phrase for making the decision at that point to trade - either to 'buy' or to 'sell' (although he usually uses the phrase for buying), as if to say you should feel comfortable enough to make the final decision without looking back...

Definition:   'Ring the Register' is Jim's phrase for selling a stock, and making it a final sale, that you should not look back on.  Put it behind you.

Definition:  'Let It Come In' indicates how you may wait for it to pull back, or have the stock price come down briefly, as your chance (after letting it come in) to buy the rest of your position (i.e., total number of shares you own in that stock).

Definition:  'backing it up' or 'doing a 'mon-back' is Jim's phrase for the metaphor of backing up a truck to load up on a stock by buying it.  'Mon-back is short for the imaginary worker saying, 'Come on back...' as the truck is backing up to receive its load... Notice that we use the little truck icon to indicate where Jim has mentioned this.  Translation for buying stocks:  This recommendation by Jim indicates that, after you do your own homework on the stock, you should feel comfortable loading up on it, as it is in a good position to be bought at this point.
