CMO

12.90

12.90

Capstead Mortgage Corp. (CMO)

CMO - You know, this is another one of these companies that invests in what's known as the yield curve. They buy some securities, sell other securities. They take the net interest margin... I used to like these companies, but they use too much leverage, and I don't think the system wants to give it to them anymore. I want you to ring the register, CMO... sell, sell, sell!

POT

183.95

183.17

Potash (POT)

POT - Yes, everybody wants to sell these stocks down... They feel them rolling over, they feel like that there is way too much fertilizer coming into the market. This, again, is way too American-centric... Here's the deal... I believe that we are still in the early stages of fertilizer shortages. They can continue to raise prices. The only reason I would get upset about POT is if someone - Obama, Hillary, President Bush - said, you know what... the mandate with ethanol, which I want to go away, should go away, and then have to pull back. So, you have to decide... Are the politicians really owned by the farm states or not? I think they're bought and paid for. So I like the retreat... I like the retreat and want to buy them.

CGV

50.21

49.81

Compagnie Gnrale de Gophysique-Veritas (CGV)

CGV - You know, your messing with some difficult technology... oil technology... You're out-thinking it. Let me tell you what I've been saying... That HAL pullback is a gift. Why are you in that difficult-to-understand CGV, when you can be in King Hal?... I am now believing that HAL is going to $50... and you should be in that one, and back up the truck!

HAL

45.91

45.43

Halliburton Company (HAL)

See CGV comments above for:
HAL

V

83.45

84.39

Visa Inc. (V)

V - I like
Mastercard (MA) more than V. As a matter of fact, if you want to listen to a conference call, which just says, we are in control of our own destiny... I've liked MA at $40, at $50, at $60... skip to $200... and $270!... And why? They raised prices in January... no one even knew... a 6% increase... There are 13 million shares that are going to be coming in for sale next month. You want to buy that. MA is still cheap. I like it more than V. The world is going plastic. Forget about the United States. We don't matter!

MA

COP*

86.15

85.24

ConocoPhillips (COP*)

COP - I think that COP*, which I own for my charitable trust, is and remains a great integrated play. You've got everything going, including a massive natural gas call!... (buzzer sounds)... Remember, 2008 is the year of natural gas. I've been saying it... Everytime they come down, I want to buy it until natural gas goes to $16... and then we will take the trade... but not until then.

LZB

6.37

6.35

La-Z-Boy Inc. (LZB)

LZB - That's easy man. That's a sell, sell, sell... The furniture business in this country is one of the worst businesses. It's worst than the restaurant business... worst than the hospitality business... worst than retail. I have no furniture companies that I will ever recommend on the show. It's the equivalent of airplanes. It's the equivalent of AMR, DAL, North...

AMR

8.77

9.04

AMR Corporation (AMR)

See LZB comments above for:
AMR

DAL

8.51

8.64

Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL)

See LZB comments above for:
DAL

WFR

62.97

62.97

MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR)

WFR - WFR was placed in the Sell Block some 15 points ago. I am going to tell you, it continues to disappoint. It is not the technology I like. The technology I like is thin-film technology, which is First Solar (FSLR). Had oil been up, FSLR would have been up $30 today, after that beautiful quarter. I don't want you touching WFR. I want you selling WFR... Sell, sell, sell!

FSLR

291.99

285.00

First Solar, Inc. (FSLR)

Thumbs up - indicates he would buy the stock or, at the very least, not sell the stock.  We do our best to interpret Jim's opinion on stocks, as we think it is indicated by his comments during the show.  Please read his comments to decide for yourself.

Thumbs down - indicates he has said not to buy or to sell the stock, based on his comments  We do our best to interpret Jim's opinion on stocks, as we think it is indicated by his comments during the show.  Please read his comments to decide for yourself.

Back up the truck - indicated by Jim, when he says the stock is so good, that he would do a 'mon-back' on the stock... In other words, this is the sound someone would say to a truck driver, "Come on back... " as he is "backing up the truck" to load up on his cargo.  Translation for buying stocks:  This recommendation by Jim indicates that, after you do your own homework on the stock, you should feel comfortable loading up on it, as it is in a good position to be bought at this point.

Stumped. - Of the 2,000+ stocks that Jim Cramer has in his head, for which he has an informed opinion, he sometimes comes across a caller with a stock he does not know well enough to opine on...  He then indicates he is stumped and will have to come back to it, after he does some homework of his own on the stock.  This usually occurs during the Lightning Round, when Jim does not know in advance who is calling, or what their stock question is about.

Definitions of key phrases used by Jim, known as "Cramerisms":

Definition:   'Pull the trigger' is Jim's phrase for making the decision at that point to trade - either to 'buy' or to 'sell' (although he usually uses the phrase for buying), as if to say you should feel comfortable enough to make the final decision without looking back...

Definition:   'Ring the Register' is Jim's phrase for selling a stock, and making it a final sale, that you should not look back on.  Put it behind you.

Definition:  'Let It Come In' indicates how you may wait for it to pull back, or have the stock price come down briefly, as your chance (after letting it come in) to buy the rest of your position (i.e., total number of shares you own in that stock).

Definition:  'backing it up' or 'doing a 'mon-back' is Jim's phrase for the metaphor of backing up a truck to load up on a stock by buying it.  'Mon-back is short for the imaginary worker saying, 'Come on back...' as the truck is backing up to receive its load... Notice that we use the little truck icon to indicate where Jim has mentioned this.  Translation for buying stocks:  This recommendation by Jim indicates that, after you do your own homework on the stock, you should feel comfortable loading up on it, as it is in a good position to be bought at this point.
