HRL

Hormel Foods Corp. (HRL)

Q:     Hey, what do you think of HRL, Hormel Foods?...

Jim:
Hey, I was doing some work earlier today on Smithfield Foods Inc. (SFD), and I was just incredibly depressed… why was I depressed… because it is amazing how bad that ethanol wrecked all the profit margins of Tyson Foods (TSN)… wrecked the profit margins Smithfield… and it wrecked the profit margins in your company… and all I can say is… sell, sell, sell.

DAL

5.71

Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL)

Q:     Delta?...

Jim:
Delta, we have never in the history of this show ever recommended an airline stock.. .which is one of the reasons that Barron’s keeps citing us as being a great source of information… I continue to be negative on Delta… and I will stay negative… and I will tell you I am going to throw in four other airlines… I mean I will throw in Lufthansa… I don’t even know if it trades anymore but I will throw in Lufthansa… there, take that…. maybe I should like China airlines… no.

SSW

9.54

Seaspan Corp. (SSW)

Q:     Seaspan Corporation?...  I believe that I have found one of your recommended dividend plays. All of their ships are 12 year contracts with triple-A customers, what do you think of it?

Jim:
Well, you know normally that would make me want to be a buyer of it… I am still stuck up on "Natty Dred", which just went X… that is NAT, Nordic American Tanker (NAT)… I have scaled back dramatically… any of the shipping companies that I have been recommending because I don’t see world trade boost… however, I was thrilled to see the Baltic Dry Freight Index… which is something that you are sure to get people to turn the channel to another show when you mention… I am bullish on Dry Freight… I am bullish on China… but I don’t want to own any of these shippers or boat companies.

NUE

Nucor (NUE)

Q:     I have a quick question with the stimulus package and the buy American steel that is in it for the moment, what do you think about Nucor?...

Jim:
I have to admit I like that Dan Dimicco (CEO) interview with 60 Minutes… they should be jealous though… we have Dimicco more than anybody… as far as I am concerned, 60 Minutes you have to watch our show to see the real Dan Dimicco… now here is the deal… I think that Nucor is too high… I recommended it last at $28... when it had an accidentally high yield… and then it took off to the moon Alice… and it had an unbelievable run where we said ring the register… it is back down to $38... let me tell you something that I like… letter X… that is right United States Steel Corp. (X).  It is now back to $25... where it yields 4.7%… I am acutely conscious of the fact that it has got a pension problem… but I have got to tell you that that stock is now down to the same amount that is was down from 1929 to 1932... I am pulling the trigger on U.S. Steel… even as I expect them to miss the quarter.

PCZ

20.86

Petro-Canada (PCZ)

Q:     I am thinking the energy sector is going to come back soon, and those stocks are pretty battered. My time horizon is long term, I am looking at Petro Canada?...

Jim:
You have now given me a recipe to agree with you otherwise I would say now wait a second I have got a 3% yield… I have got a bunch of them that have got a higher percentage yield… but you know what… if you got a long term horizon… I think the notion being down to $34 or $35 is unrealistic… Transocean Inc. (RIG), the other day, which is RIG, which stock is now starting to move up… said that people in the oil business do not believe in $35 just like they didn’t believe in $147... I think the price of oil is artificially down by the hedge funds… I want to be a buyer for the long term of yours… and the short term of any major integrateds.
