Final Segment #1:
'Am I Diversified?'
Wednesday, June 10, 2009

In this segment, Jim takes 2-4 callers and asks them to submit five stocks that make up their largest positions in their portfolio.  He then comments on whether or not they are properly diversified...  See callers' portfolios below...

Jim:     When I suggest a stock, it doesn't mean you should go "all in" like I did with the Vulcan Materials (VMC), and they just did this big secondary (stock offering)... so you know, look... oh contrare... You've got to mitigate the risk by diversifying...

Look... Diversification is the only sure thing I know about. It's going to protect you from the downside. That's why we play, "Am I Diversified?" on Wednesdays...

I'd like to start with Jane W. in Florida please...

I want to know if I am diversified... Stocks are:
Windstream Corporation (WIN), North European Oil Royalty Trust (NRT), Nordic American Tanker (NAT), Prospect Capital Corporation (PSEC) and Anworth Mortgage Asset Corp. (ANH)?...

Jim:     Alright, let's go over those... Man, Justin believes in what I call leverage! NRT, I like these. I want to take profits, by the way, in the
BP Prudhoe Bay Royalty Trust (BPT)... I recommended the BPT not that long ago. It's had a nice, nice move. Permian Basin Royalty Trust (PBT) too. Those have had nice moves. NRT is like that. It's moved up a lot with oil. I want to take profits. But that's an oil trust. Nordic American Tanker... You know, that's Herbjorn (CEO), we absolutely like. That's oil-related, but we're going to let that go, because it's really a shipping company. Now, PSEC... mezzanine (financing)... they invest in mortgages... they invest in little loans to companies. I'm not crazy about that... I think Anworth and PSEC are in the same business basically... and Windstream is telco. You've got too much concentration in financials, so I need you to take some action. But boy, do you ever have big dividends... sell, sell, sell... Get a little more diversified...

Verdict:   NO, Caller's portfolio is NOT diversified.
