Microsoft (MSFT)
Jim: Is it going to
become the darling of Wall Street? Well
it's going to have to become a biotech
firm, I guess... I think that MSFT's
okay... I don't find anything really
exciting about it. I'm not going to tell
you it's a buy... I'm not going to tell
you not to buy... It just seems very
stalled here, as does most of tech... I
wrote an article today... saying,
listen... I've got an options
strategy... We've been talking a lot
about options lately at the network... I
have an options strategy for
Apple (AAPL), but I
cannot get behind MSFT, because I don't
have a catalyst. I don't have anything
exciting about it.

ABX |

Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX)
Jim: I think that
gold has a place in a portfolio. I
think, in the next five years, what will
happen is that people will say, "wow,
they printed so many dollars... and now
we have an inflation problem." Right
now, we have a deflation problem, but I
don't think it's too early to think
about it, although I would prefer you to
be in the
SPDR Gold ETF
(GLD),
which is the actual price of gold, and I
think that's going to give you more
firepower, because you never know what's
going to happen to ABX's gold mines in
the next five years...

RPM |
12.92 |
RPM International Inc. (RPM)
Jim: You know, RPM is
down way too much. This is like,
Rustoleum... and they make these
coatings... It's very boring... It
yields 6%. It's a really well-run
company. I've got to pull the trigger...
I've got to
pull the trigger. I think some of
these housing plays, by the way, are
going to start coming back... as we
realize that housing is going to bottom.
There are only 210 more days left (as he
points to his prediction calendar)...
before housing bottoms, and a stock like
RPM is going to be darn good.

NYX |
20.32 |
NYSE Euronext, Inc. (NYX)
Jim: Man, someone's
sitting on that stock... I cannot
believe... Did that thing finally close
up today?... At one point, it was at
$18... No... $20 bucks... You know, I
was looking at the debt position of it,
and I just can't get behind the thing. I
cannot get behind the thing. We
offloaded it in the $60s, after a brutal
turn, and I never came back to it. I
like Duncan Niederauer (CEO)... I think
he is fantastic... but I don't want to
buy that stock... Don't buy, don't
buy...

FSLR |
133.72 |
First Solar (FSLR)
(Caller asked about what Obama thinks
about solar and FSLR)...
Jim: He loves solar!
He loves solar!... Look, if oil pops $3
bucks, you make $10 bucks... I have to
tell you that I have become chagrined
about the cost of solar, given the fact
that oil has come down so much. So what
I was recommending... if you want to
play that game was... take the
Claymore/MAC Solar ETF
(TAN),
the solar energy index, because it's
just too hard... OPEC is so smart...
what they did was they're going to keep
prices down... just like they did with
Jimmy Carter... so that alternative
energy won't work. They did it again.
They're brilliant. I don't
like them, but they're brilliant.

Jim: I know...
medical records, medical records...
we're buyers of
Allscripts Healthcare
Solutions Inc. (MDRX),
when we want to do medical records...
Now, that guy's always welcome on the

ETN* |
43.46 |
Eaton Corp. (ETN*)
Jim: I've been buying
ETN... I think ETN is the kind of
company... I've been buying it for
ActionAlertsPlus.com, my
charitable trust...
It's got a good yield, it's one of those
accidentally-high yields... not like
Freeport-McMoRan (FCX*),
by the way, which got too accidentally
high... No, let's not be facetious about
this... ETN had a puny dividend when it
was in the $80s. The dividend is now
very big. We really believe in Sandy
Cutler (CEO). It is
not a commodity play. I'm
with it.

 |
MOT |
4.37 |
Motorola Inc. (MOT)
Jim: Oh, MOT... I
don't know... I mean, today... Hey,
Research
In Motion (RIMM)
said some bad things today and the stock
went up. If you want
to buy MOT, do this for me... Wait until
the end of the year, because everybody
in the whole world's got a loss on it.
You know, it's got a lot of cash... it's
cash-rich... I see no particular
catalyst, and I like
Nokia (NOK)
more because of the dividend...
