   Jim's Quotes from this segment:

Jim:

Right now, we're at the mercy of the largest game of chicken worldwide, that I could ever recall. European chicken, that is. On the one hand, we've got the adamant Germans who aren't going to give an inch on the purse strings of Europe, which they clearly control. On the other hand, there's every other country in the eurozone, all of which now think, because of the troubles in Spain and Italy not just Greece, that bonds must be printed, and printed by the trillions, so that all economies in the continent can grow... not just Germany.

Today, the rest of Europe won, at least momentarily, which is why the Dow rallied 126 points... Traders in this country simply cannot afford to miss the moment when Germany blinks, and sacrifices its own interests in order to save the rest of Europe, something that's perceived as inevitable, now that the French have turned on the Germans, and the Spanish bond market is imploding.

We have to deal with the mechanics of the hedge funds and mutual funds, as they've just taken this market up to improve their performance in a very horrible month... window dressing.

The bottom line...

▼   ▼   ▼   ▼   ▼

As long as we're hostage to Europe, all of the good can turn on a dime, while all of the bad seems to stick with us, for any company that has ventured beyond our shores. It's a game of chicken. It's no way to run a stock market. Of that, I am certain.
